Red Haute

29 Nov

So…I like to look haute as possible on date night, lol. It was cold out and I opted to wear pants. This Guess one piece was on clearance at Macy’s for $17 and was originally $100! The back is cut out which gives it a little pizazz. I’ve had the thigh high boots for a few years and have only worn them once.

I added some gold accessories,

And MAC’s Ruby Woo and was good to go!

I recently read in a magazine about a stylist who uses ReFresh dry shampoo between salon visits, and because she is Black, I was eager to see if it would work for me.

I sprayed it on thinking that it would saturate my hair, lol. No so. I probably sprayed too much because I wanted to have good results. But this initially left a powdery residue behind. I combed through it pretty well before wrapping it up.

The next day I was surprised that my normally oily hair wasn’t at all oily. My hair did feel heavy though and strangely clean.

I would only use this in a pinch because I noticed that it is very drying-which I’m assuming alcohol is a main ingredient. But then again, I might have sprayed too much.

I also picked up an old classic, Nozema, liquid soap which is supposed to moisture better than bar soap, and brownie bites vitamin. They taste like candy!

Today for brunch we stopped at Milktooth located in the newly renovated Fletcher Place on the southeast side of Indy.

The restaurant was originally a mechanic’s garage. The interior is eclectic yet quaint. Each table was adorned with empty cans of Cafe Bustelo used to house the silverware.

I ordered a Mexican coke, a corneal Dutch baby with peach-amaro jam, dried blueberries, and cream fraiche and a side of sorghum glazed bacon.

The pancake was good and was a nice size portion. The bacon, however, was another story. It resembled a large hunk of fat bathed in syrup. I was able to eat a small corner of it only. The rest of it was literally fat.

My friend ordered a Cappuccino that was very bitter and burnt tasting. She also had the Belgian waffle with apple slices, seasonal nuts, and creme fraiche that was tasty.

Overall I’d probably return. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. And the menu was original.

Believe it or not, this ENTIRE outfit is over ten years old! The shrug sweater, camisole, and skirt are all from Ann Taylor’s Loft. I loved the skirt upon first glance. And the colors are perfect for fall.

I decided to layer two necklaces to add dimension and spice. I finished off with teal colored stud earrings and light brown pearls on my arm.

Posh in Plaid

15 Nov

I saw this plaid duster on Nasty Gal and liked it immediately. Obviously so did Rasheeda as her she is rocking it as you can see.

I thought of a couple of ways to wear it, the first being with holey jeans, a white tank top, neutral color boots, and gold jewelry to accent.

I also tried it on with a pair of leather shorts and black pumps. This look was a little more racy and not as casual as the first.

It would look cute as well with denim cutoffs and a pair of red peep toe cowgirl boots that I have, just disregard the huge run I have in my hose, lol.

Sweater Weather

14 Nov

Brrrr, it’s cold outside! I found this cute little number 80% off at Kohl’s which made it a whopping $10.80. I paired it with a baby blue button down to accentuate the hue in the sweater and grey slacks and heels for a business casual feel. I was pleased with the end result.

Snow Leopard

10 Nov

Today’s outfit was a total of $50 via the clearance section and a sale at Kohl’s from the Jennifer Lopez line, lol.

I’m aware of the no white after Labor Day, however, I don’t abide by it. I love the crispness of the white skirt paired with the exotic leopard print.

Usually not a turtleneck fan but this one fits nicely. And the fabric is so soft against my skin.

Skirt and blouse: Jennifer Lopez
Heels: Jessica Simpson
Necklace: The Bauble Bar
