Hoosier Girl

15 Jul

“She grew up tall|She grew up right|With them Indiana boys|On them Indiana nights…”

Today I had to rep my school by wearing crimson and cream.

When it’s hot out, I like to keep my look simple as possible. There is nothing worse than being hot, sticky and uncomfortable in the Hoosier heat.

My son, who is my photographer, LOVES to catch me off guard. It’s like a game to him, lol.

I was headed to my friend’s daughter’s open house.

So college gear it was!
A closer look at my shoes.

Pink Army

13 Jul

Pink, as you probably know, is my favorite color. Pale pink to be exact. So when I saw this skirt I wanted it immediately.

“Camo goes with anything I wanna wear”according to Wiz Khalifa and I’d have to agree, lol.

I just happened to have a dusty pink cami that matched perfectly. I added a sleeveless distressed denim jacket and a pair of pink sandals.

I completed the look with a cute pink bow necklace.

Happy 4th lovelies! The weather here in Indy is cool today, oddly, but I still wanted to represent FOJ. My ensemble is simple enough. I couldn’t resist adding this statement necklace. I paid a pretty penny for it so I try to incorporate it my OOTD every chance I get.

Of course I stayed within the classic color scheme.
My six year old, bless his baby heart, is my photographer.

Usually he does a good job but loves to get goofy as you can see, lol.

I really should’ve worn a white tank underneath as obviously my nude bra showed up to crash the style party-uber annoying.

Uptown

4 Jul

Ah, another nod to my favorite musical artist of all time.
Anywho, this is not the outfit I wanted to wear to dinner with my friend in a ritzy part of town. I had planned to wear a pair of white skinny jeans but Macy’s foiled my plans by leaving the security tag on them. I was ticked!
So, I had to move on to plan b which consisted of the number below. The shirt describes my current life perfectly, lol.

I didn’t have any cute pants to wear with this top so I opted for a skirt normally reserved for work. Staying with the color scheme and dot matrix, I added the peep toe booties to the mix. I grabbed a pearl collar necklace with touches of gold since I didn’t have time to change bags.

My former boss always said o looked like Minnie Mouse in the skirt. Now only if I would’ve had the black Mickey kisslock bag!

Color Me Peach and Black

2 Jul

Any true Prince fan should understand the title for this post.

I’ve had this shirt for years and am just now wearing it. I bought the shorts last year at Nordstrom Rack on clearance. It’s a small miracle really that I can still fit them considering I’ve gained weight, lol.

When I’m hanging out with my sons, I like to look like a mom minus the waist high jeans circa 1980. However, I don’t want to look like their grandma either.

So the quest for the middle road was found here:

At the library with my wee one. My shopping tote courtesy of my lovely friend Karen who resides in Abu Dhabi.

I love the drama in the back.
And the front as well. You can see the geometric print of the pockets peeking out from one of the rips.

I added a ornate necklace to serve as a faux collar for the mandarin neck and kept everything else simple.

Completely covered yet still stylish for the win!

Denim Days

18 Mar

Denim is always trendy but even more so this year. I tried the denim on denim look with a dress and boots.

I like that the dress is not fitted. The tie detail in the front gives it some visual interest so that it doesn’t look like a potato sack. I also like the that it has pockets.

Queen of the Ice

11 Jan

We went ice skating again-one of my favorite winter activities. I kept my look simple, a Christmas sweater that reads “Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal” which is a line from the classic Home Alone, destroyed jeans, and furry socks. I added a pearl necklace for a bit of elegance.

Of course, a fun time was had by all.
