Flare Fun

2 Sep

My favorite type of jean style is skinny. I think they are so versatile and they usually work well for shorter women. Considering I am under the average height for a woman in the US, it seems I’d stay clear of flare leg pants. I am not that sensible, lol.

This is me trying on a pair at Free People. While I love the fit-the length not so much. Of course they don’t offer them in petite. And even with the highest of heels they would still pool around the floor.

A sales associate informed me that she simply cut hers with scissors since the hem is flayed. With my luck they’d end up uneven.

I ordered a pair of hunter green-perfect for the fall. When they arrive I’ll have my seamstress do the honors.

Maybe I can wear them with my fedora 😄. Follow me on Instagram at: _candycloset_ nikki_thenomad and _abeautifulmind_

Fall Fedora

1 Sep

Let me start by saying that I don’t look good in hats. I can get away with a baseball hat-but that’s about it. Today while in Target I saw some fedoras that caught my eye.

I tried two on and they actually looked sort of cute on my head, lol. I googled some outfits to wear with them and here are a few that I liked:

What are your thoughts about this fall fashion statement? I’ll close this post with a selfie.

Denim Days

18 Mar

Denim is always trendy but even more so this year. I tried the denim on denim look with a dress and boots.

I like that the dress is not fitted. The tie detail in the front gives it some visual interest so that it doesn’t look like a potato sack. I also like the that it has pockets.

Dress: American Eagle

Boots: Uggs via Nordstrom

Jewelry: Macy’s

You Can’t Touch This (and you probably shouldn’t!)

27 Apr

When I was pregnant, about 7-8 months along, I tried on a pair of harem shorts.  They looked ridiculous!!! In fact, my friend and I could not stop laughing!  Her stepdaughter burst into my dressing room to see why we were so amused.  She immediately piped up “What’s wrong? Is your baby tickling you?!”

With that being said, I don’t think I can do the harem pants trend.  They remind of two things:

1. Cow udders

2.  M.C. Hammer

While they are comfortable it is just too much slouchiness going on in the groin region, lol.  It looks messy and less than feminine.  They really don’t flatter too many body types either.

Now I could possibly work with these.  I definitely wouldn’t spend over $20 for a pair.  What are your thoughts on this summer trend?
