Wedding

5 Jun

I attended a very special wedding-one of a former student, my favorite in fact. The bride was stunning and is still every bit of pretty she was in high school.

I always like to dress simply for weddings as I am not the star of the show. The wedding colors were mint green and peach. I opted for a play on those colors.

Green and pink it is! I love a classic, sleek ponytail.

The venue had some lovely spots for taking photos.

The lovely bride and I. Her oldest daughter.

And youngest.

All of the ladies in the picture below are former students!

I had a wonderful time and was thankful to be in attendance. I wouldn’t missed it for the world!

Dress: Lulu’s

Heels: Nordstrom

Earrings: Target

Necklace: Beijing, China

Lady Gray

24 Mar

I’ve had this sweater for a few years now and was actually thinking about getting rid of it. The boots were a birthday gift and I’ve been looking through my closet for pieces to pair with them.

The tutu is attached to the sweater and gives it a unique flavor. This appealed to the dancer I me. The sleeves also have thumb holes-another cool touch.

I added gray jeans and a chunky necklace to finish off the look.

Sweater: Kohl’s

Jeans: Target

Boots: Pitaya

Necklace: Aldo

White Nights

21 May

So I chaperoned the prom. I wanted to wear something dressy, but not “prom-y” if that makes sense. I’m a fan of jumpsuits because they are simple and give you a complete look. Here is what I came up with. I wanted an uncomplicated look and decided on a low ponytail for my hair. I relied on statement earrings and gold accented make up to give glam. My shoes were strappy gold and black sandals. I added a black bow bracelet and a black, gold, and white clutch that I got from Target.

Unfortunately, the hanger straps would not let me be great! I got a big laugh seeing them peeking out in every photo I took that evening.

Project Pink

23 Sep

A few weeks ago I strutted my stuff for Susan G. Komen’s fashion show. Students from the Indianapolis Institute of Art designed the clothes using leftover tee shirts and other materials from the 2017 Race for the Cure.

I was the only model who got to wear two pieces and I loved them both. My opening piece was a funky ensemble. It was a mini skirt with a halter top. The last piece was a dress with a high low hem. We had professionals styling our hair and doing our make up as well.

Although my pieces didn’t win, I still had a blast! Check out the photos below:

Sizzling Summer

29 May

It looks like it’s going to be a hot one here in Indy! I’m not really into dessert temps so I’m going to try to keep as cool as possible, lol. Below I’ve listed a few things that will be the foundation of my summer wardrobe. I definitely don’t want anything too tight. I want to keep it simple, cute and cool.

Dresses might just be the way to go as long as they are loose air will be able to circulate without a problem. This one is so pretty. It’s from Anthropologie. I love the back detail.

These two are by BCBG. I just purchased the one on the right in nude. I plan to wear it to a graduation (will post pics later).

You can’t go wrong with rompers. They are easy to style, cute, and can be dressed up or down. This one is only $55. The pattern is adorable, too.

Free People retro romper-I’m crushing.

Of course you need a cute pair of heels specifically for the summer for more dressy occasions. These are only $34!

I couldn’t leave out a fun pair for outings such as to amusement parks, vacations, festivals, and fairs.

We can’t forget functional. These look comfy and would be perfect poolside. Love the pop of color as well.

A statement necklace will give the plainest ensemble some jazz. I just purchased this from Chicos and it was $89. I plan to get a lot of wear out of my “red hot chili” necklace! The possibilities with this one are truly endless.

And summer just ain’t summer without these:

I love this pair by Versace, especially the leather touch.

What are you crushing on this summer? Do tell in the comments below.

Denim Days

18 Mar

Denim is always trendy but even more so this year. I tried the denim on denim look with a dress and boots.

I like that the dress is not fitted. The tie detail in the front gives it some visual interest so that it doesn’t look like a potato sack. I also like the that it has pockets.

Dress: American Eagle

Boots: Uggs via Nordstrom

Jewelry: Macy’s

Born

23 Jan

Today is the day I was born. I am simply thankful to see another year. I am also thankful for the overwhelming love that was freely shown to me.

  Sweater: Free People

Leggings: Anthropologie
Boots: Von Maur

Necklace: The Bauble Bar

I didn’t take off work as I normally do and it was such a blessing. God is so good and had many people working on His behalf all in honor of me.

Ice Queen

28 Nov

Today I took my boys ice skating. We had a blast although my little one wasn’t very happy in the beginning, lol.

I’ve had the sweater for awhile and thought it would be perfect for ice skating. It has an attached tutu and thumb holes for added hand warmth.

I didn’t want anything to bulky underneath so I chose a pair of pink leopard leggings. Pink scarf, socks, and boots finished it off.
I even ran into a student, lol, and skated a few times with her.

Bali Love

25 Jul

My dear friend is in town from Abu Dhabi and she came bearing gifts from her travels to Bali and Beijing.  This is jumper is one of them.

I love this! The color, the fit, and the style. It’s sooooo comfortable and cute! I wish I had more!

Wax On, Wax Off

30 Apr

Today I got my first ever Brazilian wax! I read a few articles online about the procedure so I had an idea of what to expect. Some people thought it was painless while others were appalled with the process.

I must admit that I was on the appalled end of the spectrum, lol. But I do have a very low tolerance for pain so it doesn’t take much to get me riled up.

Brittany over at My Little Secret Waxing Boutique did a great job assuaging my fears. She talked me through the process which helped.

However, I would be lying if I said it didn’t hurt. It felt like I was being tortured with each rip of the muslin cloth squares that removed the ultra hot wax.

I can hardly believe people get this done on a regular basis because I was near tears, lol. It doesn’t take very long but during the actual waxing, it feels like a million years.

The end result was a soft, smooth surface, though I believe I can achieve the same result in another less painful manner!
