Flare Fun

2 Sep

My favorite type of jean style is skinny. I think they are so versatile and they usually work well for shorter women. Considering I am under the average height for a woman in the US, it seems I’d stay clear of flare leg pants. I am not that sensible, lol.

This is me trying on a pair at Free People. While I love the fit-the length not so much. Of course they don’t offer them in petite. And even with the highest of heels they would still pool around the floor.

A sales associate informed me that she simply cut hers with scissors since the hem is flayed. With my luck they’d end up uneven.

I ordered a pair of hunter green-perfect for the fall. When they arrive I’ll have my seamstress do the honors.

Maybe I can wear them with my fedora 😄. Follow me on Instagram at: _candycloset_ nikki_thenomad and _abeautifulmind_

Furrrrrrrr

2 Mar

The focus piece for this look is my earrings. I ordered them well over a year ago but did not really like them once I opened the package. They simply did not look the way they did on Instagram.

When I wear my hair in a ponytail, I like dramatic earrings to balance the look so I decided to give them a try.

As you can see below, they make quite the statement and I loved them!

Sweater: Target

Jeans: American Eagle

Boots: Uggs

Coat: Michael Kors

Twisted Sister

So I needed to give my poor hair a break from the weekly iron-outs that I’m unabashedly addicted to, lol. Here’s the new look I’ll be parading around for the next 6-8 weeks. Hopefully it lasts!

Posh in Plaid

15 Nov

I saw this plaid duster on Nasty Gal and liked it immediately. Obviously so did Rasheeda as her she is rocking it as you can see.

I thought of a couple of ways to wear it, the first being with holey jeans, a white tank top, neutral color boots, and gold jewelry to accent.

I also tried it on with a pair of leather shorts and black pumps. This look was a little more racy and not as casual as the first.

It would look cute as well with denim cutoffs and a pair of red peep toe cowgirl boots that I have, just disregard the huge run I have in my hose, lol.

Lashed

15 Jun

I wanted to add a little “drama” to my day time look and decided to try Eylure lashes. I bought them for $7.99 from Target. I chose style number 202 “Dramatic” which was perfect for the look I was after. I’m guessing that they are a British company based upon the Union Jack flag on the box.

The lashes applied easily despite having a double layer. The kit came with adhesive as well as an applicator tool. It also had pictorial applying instructions. However, I opted not to use the supplied adhesive and instead bought Duo adhesive in black as it looks more natural than the white stuff.

I was pleased with the end result. I feel so pretty and feminine with them on, lol.

Jumpsuit–H&M

Jacket–Bebe’s

Shoes–Baker’s (Wild Pair)

Earrings–Express

Necklace–Kohl’s

Bangles–Bebe’s

Ring–Macy’s (Guess)

Today I decided to wear the jumpsuit I purchased from H&M over the weekend to work.  I love it!  I love the way the fabric swooshes every time I walk.  It’s makes me feel like such a lady, lol.  I styled it with a milk chocolate shrunken leather jacket, raffia heels with gold cigarette stilettos, square pendant necklace, pink pearl earrings, diamond and gold bangles, and a diamond “bracelet” ring.

I received several compliments today.  I really like this look and I am glad that I decided to step outside the fashion box.
