Flare Fun

2 Sep

My favorite type of jean style is skinny. I think they are so versatile and they usually work well for shorter women. Considering I am under the average height for a woman in the US, it seems I’d stay clear of flare leg pants. I am not that sensible, lol.

This is me trying on a pair at Free People. While I love the fit-the length not so much. Of course they don’t offer them in petite. And even with the highest of heels they would still pool around the floor.

A sales associate informed me that she simply cut hers with scissors since the hem is flayed. With my luck they’d end up uneven.

I ordered a pair of hunter green-perfect for the fall. When they arrive I’ll have my seamstress do the honors.

Maybe I can wear them with my fedora 😄. Follow me on Instagram at: _candycloset_ nikki_thenomad and _abeautifulmind_

Fall Fedora

1 Sep

Let me start by saying that I don’t look good in hats. I can get away with a baseball hat-but that’s about it. Today while in Target I saw some fedoras that caught my eye.

I tried two on and they actually looked sort of cute on my head, lol. I googled some outfits to wear with them and here are a few that I liked:

What are your thoughts about this fall fashion statement? I’ll close this post with a selfie.

One Shade of Grey

7 Mar

It’s still pretty cold here in Indiana, which means that I can continue to wear my sweaters before the weather changes to blazing.

I absolutely love this sweater. The tulle attached to the longline cardigan is what did it for me. It’s so girly and completely reminds me of my ballerina days. And not to mention, it’s super warm and comfy.

These booties are about 4.5 inches and just barely lift the tulle off the ground.

So the only drawback is the length. I’m short and as you can see the sweater is long. I have to be very carefully when wearing it.

Mad For Plaid

18 Nov

Nothing screams cold weather like plaid. It’s such a classic print. One of my favorites is Buffalo check.

I made a list of fall items I needed to add to my wardrobe and a plaid top was one of them. I got this one from Macy’s. As you can see, it was on clearance so I snatched it up, lol.

The boots are GX by Gwen Stefani. I’ve had them for about four years and only wear them once or twice a year, so they still look new.

Keeping with the color scheme, I wore black leggings which easily fit into the boots.

I really love how feminine the blouse is. Each sleeve has a double layer of ruffles. It dresses it up as well.

Normally I wouldn’t pair so much of one print together, but I think it works in this case.

What is your favorite way to wear plaid?

Pas De Deux

8 Jun

I have my eye on two things at the moment, both so pretty and girly. The first is a pair of pale pink heels with an oversized bow by Jeffrey Campbell. I really, really like these!

This is known as a bum” bag in Great Britain aka a fanny pack in America. I know that they might not be in style, but this one is so stylish. The sequins glam it up a notch. Plus, these bags are totally convenient.

What’s on your most wanted list? Do tell!

Blue Hue

14 Apr

When I saw this skirt I wanted it. I had been looking for a tulle skirt and missed out on the chance to buy one I really wanted, so I pounced on this one.

This outfit shouts spring. I paired it with a long sleeve button down, classic pearl accessories, and a pair of soft blue pumps mixed with pops of color.

I felt like a girl circa 1955, lol.

ReFresh

25 Nov

I recently read in a magazine about a stylist who uses ReFresh dry shampoo between salon visits, and because she is Black, I was eager to see if it would work for me.

I sprayed it on thinking that it would saturate my hair, lol. No so. I probably sprayed too much because I wanted to have good results. But this initially left a powdery residue behind. I combed through it pretty well before wrapping it up.

The next day I was surprised that my normally oily hair wasn’t at all oily. My hair did feel heavy though and strangely clean.

I would only use this in a pinch because I noticed that it is very drying-which I’m assuming alcohol is a main ingredient. But then again, I might have sprayed too much.

I also picked up an old classic, Nozema, liquid soap which is supposed to moisture better than bar soap, and brownie bites vitamin. They taste like candy!

Posh in Plaid

15 Nov

I saw this plaid duster on Nasty Gal and liked it immediately. Obviously so did Rasheeda as her she is rocking it as you can see.

I thought of a couple of ways to wear it, the first being with holey jeans, a white tank top, neutral color boots, and gold jewelry to accent.

I also tried it on with a pair of leather shorts and black pumps. This look was a little more racy and not as casual as the first.

It would look cute as well with denim cutoffs and a pair of red peep toe cowgirl boots that I have, just disregard the huge run I have in my hose, lol.

Plaid Please

5 Nov

It’s that time of year when the air is crisp, the leaves are falling, hot chocolate is served, sweaters are plentiful, football is played, and the fabrics of fall are a major part of the autumn season.

A Pop of Pink

13 Jun

I found this blouse on the clearance rack at Kohl’s and I love it. The front is rather plain, but the back has a sheer split panel that is longer than the front.

I wore it with a black pencil skirt with an exposed back zipper and leather side panels. I added a statement necklace to jazz it up.

I ended the look with colorful neon pumps.
